How a TV Mounting Visit Goes
Start to finish, here is what happens when we show up. Nothing complicated, but the order matters if you want the thing straight and solid.
Pick the Spot Together
Height matters more than people expect. We sit where you actually watch from, whether that is a sectional or a pair of club chairs, and set the center of the screen at eye level from there. Too high is the most common mistake in a room with a fireplace.
Find the Framing, Not a Guess
We locate studs and confirm them before drilling. Valley homes throw a few curves, including metal framing, block walls behind stucco, and interior walls with conduit running where you would rather it did not. We check first, drill once.
Check What Is Behind the Wall
Before anything goes through drywall we account for electrical runs, low voltage, and plumbing. A bathroom or laundry on the other side changes where we anchor. Nobody wants a mount installed through a water line.
Set the Bracket Dead Level
The wall plate goes up with a real level, not a phone app, and we snug the lags into the framing rather than the drywall. If the mount is a tilt or full-motion arm, we test the range of travel before the TV ever goes on it.
Hang It and Tuck the Cables
Two people lift, one guides the brackets, and the TV seats onto the plate. Then we route the cables so they are not dangling. If there is an outlet or a recessed box nearby, we run them behind the wall. Otherwise we use a clean channel.
Power Up and Clean Up
We plug everything back in, confirm you have picture and sound, and hand you the extra hardware in a bag. Boxes and foam go out with us if you want them gone, and we vacuum the drywall dust off the floor.

Stucco, Stone, and Getting the Height Right
Mounting a TV looks like a fifteen minute job until you meet the wall. Homes out here throw plenty of surprises at you, from metal studs in newer builds to solid block hiding behind stucco in the older neighborhoods. Getting TV mounting in Palm Desert, CA done right is mostly about knowing what is behind the drywall before the first hole goes in.
We had a call in Bermuda Dunes where the homeowner had already tried it once. Drywall anchors, sixty five inch screen, mounted above a stone fireplace. It held for about a month. By the time we got there the bracket had pulled out of the wall and taken a chunk of the surround with it. The TV survived, barely. We anchored the replacement into the block and it has not moved since.
Every Home Style Has Its Own Wall
Newer builds around Palm Desert often use metal framing, which holds fine but takes the right fasteners and a magnet to find. Older Rancho Mirage homes lean toward block and thick plaster, so it becomes a masonry job. Condos usually have shared walls where you have to be careful about what runs inside, and half the time the only good sight line is a wall with a window on it.
Country club homes are a different puzzle. Bighorn, Ironwood, Indian Ridge, The Reserve, Mission Hills, Rancho Las Palmas. Big great rooms with tall stone surrounds, casitas with their own living area, and outdoor patios that people want a screen on. Those jobs need a conversation about viewing height before anyone starts drilling.
Snowbirds and Second Homes
A lot of our mounting work happens in the first two weeks of the season. You come back, the new TV is still in the box in the garage, and you would rather not spend an afternoon on a ladder. We can meet you the week you land, or handle it before you arrive if someone can let us in.
Plenty of owners bundle it. While we are out we will knock out a dryer vent cleaning or a water heater flush so the season-opening list gets shorter in one visit. Our Sun City Palm Desert page covers how we schedule those seasonal rounds.
The Fireplace Argument
Here is where we sometimes disagree with customers, politely. A TV centered over a tall fireplace looks great in photos and feels terrible to watch for three hours. Your neck ends up tilted back the whole time. If the room gives us any other option with a decent sight line, we will suggest it. If the fireplace wall is genuinely the only spot, a tilt mount fixes most of the problem.
The other thing worth planning is power. If the outlet is down at baseboard height and the TV is six feet up, the cord has to go somewhere. A recessed outlet behind the screen is the clean answer, and it is worth asking about while we are already there with the wall open. That work ties into outlet and switch replacement if you want it handled the same trip.
Gates, Timing, and What You Pay
Most addresses we visit are behind a gate. Leave our name with the guard or add us to your list and it goes smoothly. Our Palm Desert office keeps drive times short, so same-week scheduling is usually no trouble even in season.
Pricing is flat and stated before we start. One hundred under sixty inches, one twenty five at sixty and above. If the job needs masonry anchors, an in-wall power run, or a mount we have to source, we tell you the number first. No creeping add-ons after the bracket is on the wall.
